Saint Basil commonly known as Saint Basil’s Cathedral, is a former church in Red Square in Moscow, Russia. The building, now a museum, is officially known as the Cathedral of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos on the Moat (Russian: –°–æ–±–æ—Ä –ü–æ–∫—Ä–æ–≤–∞ –ø—Ä–µ—Å–≤—è—Ç–æ–π –ë–æ–≥–æ—Ä–æ–¥–∏—Ü—ã, —á—Ç–æ –Ω–∞ –†–≤—É) or Pokrovsky Cathedral (Russian: –ü–æ–∫—Ä–æ–≤—Å–∫–∏–π —Å–æ–±–æ—Ä). It was built from 1555‚Äì61 on orders from Ivan the Terrible and commemorates the capture of Kazan and Astrakhan.
