History:
The Hawker Tempest V was an advanced evolution of the Hawker Typhoon, designed to address performance limitations at high altitude. Introduced in 1944, the Tempest V became one of the fastest piston-engine fighters of WWII, excelling in low- and medium-altitude combat. It was highly effective against the V-1 flying bomb threat, with pilots achieving numerous kills intercepting these weapons over Britain. In addition to air defence, the Tempest played a vital role in ground attack and escort missions across occupied Europe, proving to be one of the RAF’s most formidable late-war fighters.
