The AH-64 Apache is an American combat helicopter with twin turboshaft engines, tailwheel landing gear and a tandem cockpit for a crew of two.
It has a nose-mounted sensor unit for target acquisition and night vision systems.
It is armed with a 30 mm M230 chaingun and typically a mix of AGM-114 Hellfire missiles and Hydra 70 unguided rockets.
The AH-64D Apache Longbow is equipped with a glass cockpit and advanced sensors, the most prominent of which are the AN/APG-78 Longbow millimetre wave fire control radar (FCR) and radar frequency interferometer (RFI). These are housed in a dome above the main rotor.
The AH-64E Guardian (pre-2012 AH-64D Block III ) features improved digital networking, the Joint Tactical Information Distribution System, more powerful T700-GE-701D engines, the ability to control unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), full instrument flight capability, new composite rotor blades and reinforced landing gear legs.
