13 June 1944 – The Battle of Villers-Bocage: German tank ace Michael Wittmann, riding a Tiger I tank, ambushes elements of the British 7th Armoured Division, destroying up
to fourteen tanks, fifteen personnel carriers and two anti-tank guns. Wittmann was also awarded his silver swords on his Knight’s Cross as commander of 2nd Panzerkompanie.
