After losing all of her training ships as war reparation to the Allies at the end of WWII, the German Bundesmarine decided in 1957 to commission a new training vessel and named her ‘Gorch Fock’. She is sometimes referred to as ‘Gorch Fock II’, as the original had passed into Soviet hands. Launched and commissioned in 1958, Gorch Fock is a three-masted barque with a steel hull. Revell’s model features a two piece hull, fully detailed decks, superstructure and masts, vacform sails, motorboats and lifeboats, helm and ventilation shafts, yarn for static and running lines and a display stand. Additionally, this 60th Anniversary Gift Set version includes; Contacta Professional cement, paintbrush, a selection of Aqua acrylic paints and an A2 reproduction box-art poster.
